Sabora
Plains Tented Camp
Sabora Plains Tented Camp is situated on the Serengeti plains,
beautifully decorated in grand campaign 1920s style.
Facilities and activities at Sabora Plains Tented Camp include
a dining room, lounge, heated plunge pool, Jacuzzi, tennis
court, Colonial Trading Post, laundry & valet services,
bar lounge (with satellite TV, DVD player and library), Playstation
and board games, and a spacious, covered viewing deck overlooking
the Serengeti plains. A selection of compound and recurve
bows are also available, together with targets, for archery
practice on the plains.
Professionally guided activities include game drives in open
vehicles, walks, night drives, horse riding on the Equestrian
track, horse out rides onto the plains, mountain biking and
archery. Other activities available at one’s leisure
include badminton, lawn croquet, and swimming.
Sabora Plains Tented Camp also has a spa, which features
2 therapy rooms for treatments. Many treatments can also be
conducted in guest tents.
The Equestrian Centre is situated adjacent to Sasakwa Lodge,
and is home to 16 horses. Sabora Plains Tented Camp offers
you access to this centre, which includes a lunging arena,
fenced paddock, and a walled 2.7 kilometre riding track, which
can also be used for walking and jogging. More experienced
riders can enjoy outrides onto the Serengeti plains. Tack
is English style, and guests have the choice of either English
or Western saddles.
Sabora Plains Tented Camp provides 6 lavish tents, all which
are air-conditioned and feature a bedroom and reading area,
bathroom (with bath, outdoor shower and dressing area), viewing
deck with your own Swarovski spotting scope, electronic safe,
overhead fan, hairdryer, direct dial telephone (US lines),
wireless internet, and a library lounge tent with a personal
bar and fridge.
Guests at Sabora Plains Tented Camp enjoy sophisticated meals,
with a slightly rustic touch, so as to capture the feeling
of a mobile camp of the golden colonial era.
Dining venues include the dining room, main deck, on the
plains in front of the camp or the tent’s reading area
or deck.
A wide selection of fine wines, champagnes and sparkling
wines, cognacs, cigarettes and cigars is available.
